Cotto Has the Guts to Beat Mayweather in a Loopside Decision
Once and for its time to move on from the past bitter feelings we have for the foiled Pacquiao and Mayweather fight as we take on a new chapter on Cotto vs Mayweather. What makes this fight interesting is that Cotto is one tough opponent to beat rather than Victor Ortiz who Mayweather gave a sucker punch last year. It would be nice to see if Miguel Cotto can handle Mayweather’s trashtalking antics and get it on the ring.
Before Cotto was floored by Manny Pacquiao in their title bout, Cotto remained undefeated with a smashing record of 32 – 0 and appear to be a fan favorite amongst the crowd. Cotto’s career change when he lost to a bitter sweet victory over Margarito where the alleged cemented hand wraps where used. Cotto has won his last three fights in a hurricane and eventually settled the score with Margarito in an impressive fashion. In that bout, he simply used his speed and mobility and stay afloat with Margarito and hit the Mexican in the right eye that forced the end of the fight.
Almost every boxer knows that Mayweather’s secret on being undefeated lies in his strategic defense and skill. One of his greatest asset has to be his body, as Mayweather can quickly pummel his opponent and leaves him to dust. Mayweather is almost impossible to penetrate and trap, and he usually doesn’t leave himself vulnerable to body scratches.
Cotto is a determined fighter that could likely upset Mayweather fans. With his strong chin and knocked-out body, he could eventually turn out the fight in his favor. But then again, it could end on the opposite tracks with Mayweather winning the judges scorecard in a unanimous decision. There’s only one way to find out as the Mayweather vs Cotto fight will star the biggest fighters on the planet this coming May 5th.
