Does Cotto Have The Chance To Beat Mayweather?
Boxing historian Bert Sugar likes to say that boxing fighters relatively have slim chances on a fight. This may be a mantra to Miguel Cotto’s upcoming fight with Mayweather. Hall of famer coach Freddie Roach once said that as a young fighter he would spar with late Alexis and he would know that Roach was going to do something before him. A world class fighter like Mayweather would likely do the same to Cotto, as he already anticipates Cotto’s move.
Mayweather’s trait is a formidable one. Mayweather can adapt well to many of his opponents and in just a short period of time he can already read his opponents move and mind. Cotto vs Mayweather is one tough battle not to miss out.
Cotto’s team are already deliberating on the fighter that they want to prepare the latter with. Boxing experts agreed that sparring is as just important as any other training method for the big fight. Sparring is real boxing with the exception of using protective gears and padding equipment to keep other people from harm.
Mayweather’s fight style is complex but his defense is superb. Cotto on the other hand has a jab that can put fighters to sleep and he has done well pitting up with Mosley. But don’t expect Cotto to be jabbing all the way through the night.
The last thing that Cotto needs to prepare is Mayweather’s physical strength. Coping with Mayweather is as strong as he can get. His body is bulked up and he has gained a lot of physical strength in his arms, legs, torso, and shoulders just to name a few. Not only that, Mayweather is reported to be a power puncher. If Cotto anticipates everything and prepares for the worse then we don’t have to worry about Cotto losing to Mayweather.
In any case we’ll just have to wait and see as the Mayweather vs Cotto fight will soon unfold this coming May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
